Kingston Hospital Project Completion Success

We’re excited to announce the successful completion of a refurbishment project at Kingston Hospital, appointed by our valued long-term client – Vinci.

Solace were entrusted with carrying out the works at the Hospital’s Cancer Treatment building, transforming several rooms to meet new functional requirements, enhancing both the infrastructure and layout to support improved patient care.

Key upgrades for the project included significant plant room modifications and targeted room refurbishments to meet new functional requirements and enhance comfort, including:

Plant Room Modifications:

  • Installation of 3 x supply and 3 x extract branches to serve 4 rooms.
  • Addition of 3 x heater batteries to support new supply ducts, improving climate control.
  • Replacement of single dual condenser with 4 x individual condensers for greater efficiency.
  • Upgrade of existing cooling coil to a combined heating and cooling coil.
  • Pipework alterations to supply the frost coil.
  • Installation of a new fire damper and control panel to accommodate updated ductwork.
  • Integration of the existing system with the new panel and replacement outdated fire interfaces for enhanced safety.

Room-Specific Refurbishments:

  • Former Storeroom: Converted into a consultation room with new supply and extract ventilation from the plant room.
  • Reception Area: Segregated from the toilet area, lighting modified and a power point added for a new coffee machine.
  • Baby Changing Room: Repurposed as a storeroom, with lighting adjustments and installation of a damper and grilles for the new layout.
  • Consultation Room (Now Clinical Space): Enhanced with new supply and extract ventilation.
  • Councillor’s Room: Improved lighting with adjustable brightness and dimming controls to suit specific needs.
  • Furniture Adjustment Room: Electrical outlets repositioned to accommodate new furniture.
  • Subdivided Consultation Room: Fully renovated to create two consultation rooms, including a complete strip-out and rewire, with new supply and extract ventilation, IPS systems, and radiant panels installed in both rooms.

Our team are highly experienced in delivering within an operational healthcare setting, and through careful planning and phased works scheduling around critical care units, they ensured all project requirements were met while maintaining a seamless, patient-centred approach with minimal disruption caused. Thanks to our consistent management of site standards and subcontractor coordination, the project was completed successfully and on-time.
